Remember how it used to be a fashion sin to wear matching sets and everyone thought that trend died out after the Clueless phase? WELL, it’s back! We’re all heading for that Clueless look!
I absolutely LOVE matching sets because theres actually so much you can do with them! Whether it’s a plain outfit, you can spice it up with statement jewellery or shoes or if it’s printed you can tone it down with a simple blazer or jacket.
I’ve decided to pick a couple of looks for different kinds of styles.
The first is for those who want more of a sophisticated look:
This look is perfect for that “Made In Chelsea” chic lunch date look and the soft pastel colour is always ideal for spring. The complete look is from Dorothy Perkins and you can find it here.
So thats your lunch date sorted! What about dinner? Well this look i’ve picked is from Missguided.com .(You can find the skirt on the right hand side once you open the link) You can never go wrong with black and white! Due to it being such a simple look, you can style it out with statement jewellery or go for a bold choice of shoes like these that I’ve picked out: 1, 2, 3
As soon as stores start releasing their spring/summer collections, you start seeing floral prints everywhere. The flowers never seem to die out! This look can look pretty girly but I recommend you style it out with some Dr Martens (1, 2, 3) or you go for classic Chelsea boots with either a denim jacket or a long kimono.
The good thing about matching sets is that the prints don’t always have to be the same. If you’re not feeling brave enough to pull off two things of the same print, go for something different like this (see below). You can mix and match sets like I have done here, I’ve picked a bold jacket and decided to pair it with something yellow/neon in order for the colours in the jacket to really stand out. Keep accessories to a minimum when you have a jacket as colourful as this and wear something simple underneath like a bralette or plain crop top as the shorts are high waisted.
Right, this next look is inspired by the new Adidas/Farm collection with all the pineapple prints and bright patterns. Its a more sportier look to matching sets for those who are looking for something casual. The bright print is perfect for that summer feeling and will look good paired up with trainers or Converses (don’t really like what the model is wearing with it.)
For the last look I’ve picked something quite urban and trendy for those “hipster” (stereotype I know) chicks. To be honest, this look reminded me of Marilyn Monroe and has a vintage feel to it. Would look great with bright red lipstick, cat-eye sunnies and a leather jacket!
